Two Cool and Healthy Recipes to Beat the Summer Heat

Contributor: Katelyn Chef

It’s likely, no matter where you reside, you’re experiencing a heat wave. Or at least, bracing for a spike in upcoming temperatures. Of course, traditional ways to cool off always are popular like visiting the beach or camping out near the pool.
However, tasty ways to keep the heat at bay are also a popular solution. While we love ice cream, (who doesn’t) there are cool make-it-yourself drinks as well as build your popsicles to stay chill when Mother Nature is flirting with double digits.
While it’s hot outside, we are doing our best to keep cool with these two chill recipes to make ASAP!

Protein Plant-Based Orange Julius
If you were a product of a ‘90s childhood or still hangout in the few malls remaining, you have
probably sipped your fare share or orange Julius beverages over the course of time. While we
agree, they’re so delicious, they are also filled with sugar.
To keep chill as well as healthy, we have the perfect plant-based OJ recipe for you to make.
Bonus, you don’t have to live near a mall to indulge.
You’ll Need:

  • No Sugar Added Orange Juice (or Pressed Orange Juice)
  • Vega Vanilla Protein Powder
  • 4-5 Ice Cubes
  • ½ Frozen Banana
  • Blender

Method:

  • Take your blender, add ice cubes, frozen banana & one to two scoops of the Vega
  • Vanilla Protein Powder. Depending on how ‘sweet’ you want your smoothie to be will
  • affect your number of scoops.
  • Add OJ until your blender reaches the ‘fill’ line.
  • Blend until drink is smooth.
  • Poor beverage into tall glass, stir with glass straw, and enjoy!

Healthy Homemade Fruit Popsicles

Growing up, we savored all of the patriotic vibes while licking the iconic red, white, and blue
popsicles on our front stoops. While those are still tasty, we now like to eat flavors that are
healthy as well as wholesome.
This recipe for homemade blueberry fruit pops is via the Food Network.
You’ll Need:

  • 2 cups of thawed frozen blueberries
  • ½ cup apple juice
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • ½ juiced lemon
  • 1 pinch of salt

Method:

  • Take all the listed ingredients and blend in a blender until combined.
  • Pour into 5 pop molds.
  • Place in freezer overnight.
  • Enjoy the next day!

To get a variety of flavors you can repeat the recipe swapping frozen strawberries for the
blueberries.
See, it’s easy to beat the summer heat with easy recipes like these. To keep inspired, stay tuned
